We tell you exactly what each piece is made of. You'll find the specific materials on every product page; here's what the terms mean.

Stainless steel

Strong, rust-resistant and easy to care for. It won't turn your skin green. Where a product page says 316L, that's a grade of stainless steel commonly used in jewelry and watches for its corrosion resistance.

Gold tone

A gold-colored finish applied over stainless steel. It is not solid gold and not gold-filled. Like any finish, it can wear over time with friction, sweat and chemicals. Follow our care guide to keep it bright.

Black finish

A black coating over stainless steel. It can wear at high-contact edges over time.

Stones

We'll always say whether a stone is natural or simulated (for example, cubic zirconia or simulated onyx).
